By setting up MFA, you add an extra layer of security to your Microsoft 365 account sign-in. Microsoft recommends using the Microsoft Authenticator App, but you can choose to register a cell phone number by clicking the “I want to setup a different method” link.
The first time you login, you will be prompted to provide more information to keep your account secure.
Click Next.
You’ll be prompted to download the Microsoft Authenticator App to your mobile device from the Apple or Google Play store. If you already have the Microsoft Authenticator App, make sure it is up to date.
Click Next.
Click Next.
Open the Microsoft Authenticator App on your mobile device and click the “+” sign in the top right corner.
Select Work or School account.
Select Scan QR Code on your mobile device.
Scan the QR Code displayed on the computer screen.
Click Next.
Your mobile device will prompt you to confirm the sign in attempt. Enter the number displayed on the computer screen into the Authenticator App and click Yes.
The computer screen should confirm the registration is complete.
Click Next.
Click Done.
